TOONY TERRORS UNLEASHED Part 1

Finding great Horror toys on a budget is typically translated to praying before entering a thrift shop nowadays and the dream we all had as kids about how badass it would be if Scooby Doo and his pals found their way into a REAL dangerous horror movie scenario  seemed like it would always be just that,a dream..
That is until the crazy folks at Neca decided to suddenly check both those boxes at once with a new (ish) (downright Kooky kid friendly) line of (mostly) durable, play ready weirdos and psychopaths just right to take on our favorite bunch of mystery solvers without slaughtering our wallets in the meantime.

Ladies and gentleman (and lady-men and man-ladies,) may I introduce you to the wild world of
TOONY TERRORS.

But ,Moose, we've been collecting these for years now!" I hear you shouting..well these are pretty new to me so curb your lack of enthusiasm mr.random.internet reader, cause damn it, I'm excited!

I want to start with one of my personal favorites, Mr.Jason Voorhees!

Jason comes decked out in what looks like a modified version of a combination of his outfits from parts 3 and 4. He's quite a bit thinner than the monolith we are used to and also has a little Shaggy tossed in there for good measure.

The mask sculpt is quite good with some cartoonish angery accents added to make up for it being no removable and the neck wrinkles were a nice touch

The clothing has a cartoonishly torn look but sadly lacks any bloody detailing like we see in some of the other figures

The machete is appropriately exaggerated with some funny cartoon "shine" effects added but again no blood and I was a little sad to not see any other add ONS..but for the price this is hardly a big complaint

Basic articulation here with head, neck, shoulders, legs and hands, still more than we have seen in alot more pricey stylized figures

Foot peg holes make for the fun possibility of future playsets and added accessories in the future

Overall this was a very solid figure, paint was well done, great sculpt. I do hope the line adds versions of Jason for the other films and hopefully does at least one unmasked Jason though. This character is too full of imagery to only have one Jason in this line.

Next let's take a look at one of my least favorite (but still super cool) characters in this line. Pennywise The Dancing Clown (Tim Curry version)

This one has alot going for it sculpt-wise with the head and body being spot on movie accurate while also giving things the cartoonish look needed to fit in with the others. ..but that's where things get a bit iffy. Firstly this figure had VERY limited articulation. With little movement for the head, arms that only turn around, limited hand movement and no articulation at all in the legs other than very limited borderline useless turn-ability in the ankles.

The balloon included essentially has a bread tie for the string and getting it through the pinprick without heating the hand or making the hole bigger was impossible and resulted in all the outer plastic on the "string" sliding up to expose the wire underneath before it broke off of the balloon altogether.
I'm not sure what I would use in place of the bread tie set up but this (along with the remake figure coming with a boat and this one not) was a big disappointment.

Even with all this taken into account this figure is well worth the bellow 20$ price tag and looks great among it's breatheren

This next figure I already gave you guys a quick peak at but I'd be remiss not to fully discuss. That figure is The Shape himself Michael Myers!
Now I'm all about Jason but I have to admit when it comes to the figures, I gotta give it to Myers here.
Firstly there's actually 2 versions of Mr.Myers with the first being his likeness from the classic original

and the second being the post-eye wounded Myers from part 2.

I could only pick up one at the time I got these so I decided on part 2

Along with his signature butcher knife, Mikey also comes with a stylized pumpkin from the original movie art that with some finessing he can also hold.

His jumpsuits comes with some nice blood spatter accents as well as some added texture that this collector really appreciated.

He has improved articulation from other figures with arms that go all the way around, hands that also swivel, moving legs and feet and my personal favorite a head that turns around but also cocks much like the Jason figure does.

Like the other figures this guy also has the holes in his feet for future playset possibilities.

Overall another very solid figure

Next we have a relative newcomer compared to the rest and one I was very surprised to see pop up, the slaughter master of the swamp Victor Crowley!

This was another favorite of mine despite it being another one whose legs do not move. Here that artistic choice made alot of sense since Victor's design makes him very top heavy and it was likely a choice of non-moving legs or the figure not being able to stand.

The figure is also noticeably taller than the other figures as he should be.

The face here is incredibly detailed but not so much so that it won't fit in with the line, a feat that was likely very difficult to pull off and one that was very much appreciated. If anything this version of Victor is a little more imposing as the original design is a little bit hokey in my humble opinion (likely that was done on purpose if you know the film series)

Articulation here is limited due to his deformed body, arms go up and down, head moves and wrists swivel but I think it will more than suffice for posing this monolithic maniac

Victor's only accessory is his trusty hatchet and this is another figure where I wouldn't mind seeing a variant splashed with blood, battle scarred and coming with a chainsaw.

Another very solid edition to what's quickly becoming my favorite line

Next we jump into the past for another delightful surprise. This next one had a special spot in my nightmares as a child. Count Orlok from Nosferatu!

One great thing about old movie monsters is they translate VERY well to cartoons.(need proof look at how much the actual Scooby Doo cartoon borrows from black and white era Horror movies) and this beautiful figure is no exception!

Neca got everything right about this sculpt, the exaggerated ears and face, the buck tooth style fangs, hell even the rat!

The body sculpt likewise lovingly rendered with the ultra thin arms and waste and most importantly of all those long, sharp fingers!

This figure is fully posable with articulation in the arms, wrists, neck, legs and feet. But I highly recommend being very careful with his wrists as they can be delicate. I got lucky and when I broke mine it was clean enough to easily secure with a spot of carefully placed super glue but don't make the same stupid mistake I did.

Again we see the footholes I like. And again this Is another awesome edition I think anyone should own or buy for their kids as a way to introduce them to the world of horror in a fun way

Now that we have aptly covered some villains let's look at one of the line heros of the line so far. Ash Williams of Evil Dead 2

This was another one that REALLY hit the mark. Let's face it, with his exaggerated goofy good looks Bruce Campbell was born to be a cartoon and here we get a great Caricature of that big chinned rugged jackass we all know and love, complete with battle scars and blood stains (although there is a bloodless version Walmart keeps trying to sell absolutely no one)

Ash comes with his trusty broomstick, a workable sheath in his back and a gored up chainsaw arm that will make any fan happy

Articulation is extensive for this line and includes head, neck, hand, chainsaw, arms, legs and feet

This is another one where we need at least 2 more versions as well as some deadites (pretty please!)

Overall another great figure.

That's unfortunately all I could find (and afford) to pick up in this line so far but alot more are out there and still coming out so stay tooned!
