BETTER THAN THE MOVIE: A review of the Neca Ultimate Halloween Kills Michael Myers

When I was a kid Horror toys were few and far in between. The Regan's as well as well meaning "Christian groups" had witch hunted any toy companies who WERE making such things as the Freddy Krueger matchbox figure or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Atari game into nonexistence and the few items we did get took ALOT of imagination to be even close to what we saw on screen. As the years progressed things changed in the market and suddenly it was flooded with companies like McFarlane toys, Sideshow and Funko to name a few but honestly it always came down to the look or functionality with very little room for the middle ground of both. That was until an originally small company came out of the shadows to beat the shit out of the competition in every way from sculpting to price region no one could take out these maniacal maniacs. While other companies stuck with one design per character Neca was never satisfied to not give customers EVERY incarnation of their chosen evildoer (or hero for that matter) today we take a look at the OG masked maniac himself, The Shape! And he's never been older or more fearsome then he is in his latest outing HALLOWEEN KILLS.

While the film this figure is based on may have had a lot of missteps I think we can all agree the shape's design has never been cooler. With his severely burned mask, bloodied eyesocket and even charred coveralls to boot, old Mikey is battle scarred and more pissed than ever, and this figure captures the carnage to the nth degree with 2 switchable heads (one slightly more battle scarred then the second

Switchable hands complete with missing fingers

He includes over 25 points of articulation including (but not limited to) head, neck, waist, hands, wrists, shoulders, forearms, hips, knees, ankles and feet, for maximum possability

The jumpsuit is highly textured and the body is very flexible

accessories include A baseball bat, not one but 2 knives, a florescent light,a fire fighter tool, and an iconic silver shamrock skull mask that he can grip and the weapons are highly detailed with the blood looking fresh and being the right color, the bat has nice woodgrain texture

Mikey stands around 7 inches tall (for size comparison here's him next to the Toony Terrors Michael Myers [we will be discussing then more soon])

and can easily grip all his weapons and accessories simply by switching his hands out.

The neck peg can be a little tricky and will come out with the head if you manhandle it so recommend gently moving it side to side to switch out.

The Bat is also a little bit delicate and will snap if you try to force it into the hand but again this is just where a little bit of finesse is needed

Overall this was an awesome figure and great edition to any horror figure collection. It may even be the best version of The Shape as a figure all the way around. Even if you HATED Halloween Kills I think any fan of good old Mikey will get a kick out of this figure and with a price tag of less than 40 dollars at most outlets you really can't go wrong

But WAIT who's this coming in to take on The Shape??
